Discovering God: A Journey of Seeking, Expecting, and Embracing His Presence
Is God waiting for us to reach out to Him? In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook the divine presence that’s always available to us. But what if the key to spiritual growth and hearing God lies in something as simple as seeking Him wholeheartedly? In this post, the long awaited part 2 of 2, we continue to examine how to SEEK God's face in our journey to know Him more. (You can read part 1 here before continuing with part 2). In our part 1 post, we explored Solomon's kingdom assignment, but how does that remain relevant to us today?
Searching for God....The Promise
The Bible assures us that when we search for God with all our hearts, we will find Him. This isn’t just a hopeful thought; it’s a promise. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, "But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul." Imagine having a guarantee that when you look for God, He will be there, ready to meet you. It’s like an open invitation to a relationship that’s waiting to be embraced.
Expecting a Response
When we pray, do we truly expect God to answer? Solomon didn’t just pray for the sake of praying; he anticipated a response from the Lord. This expectation is rooted in faith, knowing that God is not only capable of responding but is eager to do so. When we approach God with a humble heart, submitting to His authority, we can be confident that He will answer. This is a call to pray with purpose, trusting in the living God who listens and responds.
Embracing a Relationship with God
God desires a personal relationship with each of us. In 1 Chronicles 28:9-10, God speaks to Solomon, urging him to know the God of his father. Does this invitation extend to us today? YES!! God knows us intimately, and He invites us to know Him in return. By dedicating our lives to serving Him, we align ourselves with His purpose and experience His acceptance. However, if we turn away, we risk missing out on the fullness of His presence.
Each of us has a unique assignment from God, a kingdom purpose to fulfill. Just as Solomon was chosen to build the temple, we are chosen to carry out our own divine tasks. This requires strength and commitment, but God equips us for the journey. As we embrace our relationship with Him, we find the courage to complete our assignments.
Keeping in Step with the Holy Spirit
The journey of seeking God doesn’t end with finding Him; it continues as we walk with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16-26 describes the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities become evident in our lives as we draw nearer to God. The Holy Spirit transforms us, making us more like Christ and enabling us to live out our faith authentically.
Practical Steps to Seek God
Set Aside Time for Prayer and Reflection: Dedicate moments each day to seek God through prayer and meditation on His Word.
Expect God to Speak: Approach your prayers with the expectation that God will respond. Listen for His voice in the quiet moments.
Embrace Community: Engage with fellow believers who can support and encourage you in your spiritual journey.
Live Out Your Faith: Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in your actions and interactions with others.
Take Action
Are you ready to embark on this journey of seeking God? Take the first step today. Set aside time to pray, expect God to respond, and embrace the relationship He offers. As you do, you’ll discover a deeper connection with the Creator who knows and loves you.

A Prayer for the Journey
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise that when we seek You, we will find You. Help us to approach You with expectant hearts, ready to hear Your voice and embrace the relationship You offer. Guide us by Your Holy Spirit, that we may live out our faith with love, joy, and peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
